The accolades keep rolling in for LCT Centurions Community
Leigh Community Trust was delighted to receive an award at the Rugby League Cares awards..
The trust picked up a commendation for incredible work in education for the New Skills Programme at the Manchester Bierkeller on Thursday evening, beating excellent education programmes from other trusts and foundations at the event.
Leigh Community Trust was this year’s recipient of a commendation for education due to the lasting change we make to individuals through our New Skills Programme.
The New Skills Programme aims to increase the employability of 14-19 year old hard to engage young residents in the Leigh area, by providing better opportunities for the young people of the area to improve their levels of qualifications and life skills. It aims to change participant's attitudes towards work and employment by providing an environment and positive role models in staff and professional players that motivates them to think that work could be a positive thing and that reliance on a life on benefits is no longer an option.
Programmes Director for the Trust, Hannah Forbes, commented on the award “It is very humbling to win an award especially for our New skills programme, the great work both Mick (Nanyn) and Michael (Ostick) have put into creating an exceptional innovative and motivational programme that really does change lives on a daily basis is truly inspirational, we are so lucky as a Trust and club that they are part of our team. I want to thank all of my staff for their continued hard work and lets hope the accolades keep on coming”.
